Late 19th Century Carved and Painted Wood Model of the Royal Coat of Arms
The central shield painted with the Royal Motto ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’, held by supporting Lion and Unicorn, with helmet, scrolling acanthus leaves and lion above, inscribed ‘Dieu Et Mon Droit’. This large representation of the Royal Coat of Arms was used by shops and traders who were granted the Royal Warrant.
A Coat of Arms of this size and quality would have been made for a renowned retailer such as Selfridges or Harrods, and would have featured at a front entrance.
